Dog Star is a 1993 Alan Wright Oceans 12. When we bought her she was called Impulse II, which felt wrong as a name, this is not an impulse for us, but a planned adventure with thought and care.

At some point someone modified her to add a sugar scoop which is a nice addition to the boat, as well as giving somewhere to store the LPG bottle! We’ve carried a huge number of upgrades to her to create a friendly and safe home for us while we cruise the South Pacific. Upgrades have included new electronics, solar system, rigging, new winches, bimini and cockpit enclosure, new flooring, headliner, oven…. the list goes on!

She would have been one of the last Oceans 12 boats to be built, at the end of an era of NZ small boat building.
